Pipe Cleaners are some of the most versatile craft materials to have on hand. They are great for making models, bracelets and even crowns. I especially like to bring them out on rainy days and using them for the following simple activities. These really help with fine motor skill development and make sure of simple things that you have on hand in your kitchen.

Ruth just loves making crazy spiders out of pipe Cleaners and a colander. It’s so much fun for toddlers age 1-3 years to practice threading the pipe cleaners through the holes to make the creature or a fancy hat!
Cheerio Spaghetti Towers
Secure pieces of spaghetti to a table using playdoh and get to work creating the tallest cheerio tower you can! This provides hours of fun in our house.
Puff Container Pipe Cleaners
If you go through puff snacks like we do, you probably have a few empty containers around the house. For this activity, I punched holes in the lid of the container and Ruth practiced threading the pipe cleaners through the tiny holes. This is a lot harder than the colander threading so more suitable for older toddlers. You can also put color coded stickers over the holes to make it even more challenging.
