Pink And Gold First Birthday Party

Pink and gold birthday parties are all the rage at the moment.

It a simple yet elegant theme and the great thing is, it’s really easy to find decorations at party supply stores, online and at the dollar store.

We rented out a church hall that was very sparsely decorated for my daughter’s first birthday,  so I really needed to step it up with decor on a budget!

What I did and how much I spent

 Chalkboard

I bought an editable jpeg image on Etsy for the classic “Baby is One” chalkboard.

I then had it printed onto 18 x 24 inch photo paper at Staples and for the”frame” I used a large piece of glittery gold card stock from Dollar Tree .

Printing at Staples; $14

Cardstock frame: $1.25

Total cost: $25.25

Wall Decor

For most of the decor, I used scrapbook card stock I found at Dollar Tree.

I scooped up every piece I could find at my local store and even had to make a trip to some other locations.

This was used to make the bunting banners that I used to decorate the food table.

I also made mini-bunting and attached it to paper straws for the cake. It turned out so cute!

By the way, I used a grocery store birthday cake and just asked them to leave it plain!

Lastly, I used the same glitter paper as “frames” for a display of my baby’s monthly milestone photos.

I also used the same glittery paper to make the framed sayings which were honestly a bit fiddly.

I used a stencil to make the letters and then painstakingly cut each one out.

Then I mounted the letters on card stock and put them in Dollar Tree frames.

The great thing is that I now use them as decor in baby’s bedroom so they were worth the effort!

15 sheets of scrapbook paper: $18.75

3 x dollar store frames: $3.75

String: on hand $0

Printing 12 monthly photos: $3.60

Total cost for bunting, frames and monthly photo display: $26.10

“One”sie

I decided to try making the “One” onesie myself as I couldn’t justify paying $30 for something that she would wear only once.

I used an old white onesie that was on its last legs and some gold glitter fabric paint from Dollar Tree I printed out the letters using a large font, cut them out and used the paper as a stencil.

All in all, It took about 20 minutes and I think it looks great!

Total cost: $1.25 for the paint.

Here is what the whole outfit looked like on the birthday girl!

For the rest of the hall, I used alternating gold and pink tablecloths and made some tissue paper flowers for the windows.

I used chalkboard tags from the dollar store for the Target loot bags.

The basket they are in is actually a drawer from an Ikea Jonaxel storage set.

In conclusion,  I’m  really happy with how the party came out on such a small budget.

All of the decor ended up costing less than $75 for all of the decor which left more money for yummy cookies and cake!

Grand total

$75.00
