5 Signs You Have a Hormonal Imbalance

The tricky thing about hormonal imbalances is that many of the symptoms are also symptoms of other physical conditions.

However, it is still good to know about the potential signs and symptoms, so that you know when to talk to a doctor.

This is not something you can diagnose on your own, but by understanding more about the common signs of hormonal imbalance, you can go to your doctor with all the necessary information.

Personally, I found a naturopath the best doctor for me when I was exploring hormone imbalances that were affecting my fertility. Naturopaths tend to look at curing the body with herbs instead of going straight to a medication which I was a fan of.

Even if you aren’t a big fan of these types of greens, there are ways to add them to your diet without much effort.

You can make a mixed green salad with your favourite lettuce, then add in some kale or spinach to it. You can make an egg scramble with spinach, or add a handful of greens to a pasta dish.

Another great way to have your greens every day is with a smoothie. You can get my fertility smoothie recipe here.

Healthy fats such as the ones encouraged in the Fertility Diet  can also help to balance out those hormone levels and help cleanse your liver.

Avocado, olive oil, coconut oil,  MCT oil and nuts are great sources of healthy fats. Fish like salmon and mackerel are also an excellent way of adding healthy fats and a lot of protein to your diet when trying to get pregnant.

Focus on Reducing Your Stress

If you are going through a period of worry or have a lot on your mind (such as when you are going through infertility) this can wreak havoc on your hormones.

Cortisol helps to regulate how stress impacts your body and it can affect your fertility if it gets out of whack.

Omega Vitamins

A deficiency in Omega vitamins can lead to hormonal imbalances. Add in more healthy fats to your diet, such as fresh-caught fish like salmon, tuna and mackerel, walnuts and chia seeds, and plant oils like flaxseed oil and canola oil.

B Complex

B vitamins are essential for maintaining energy, balancing out your hormones, and preventing fatigue during the day. B6 is among the most important B vitamins, which you can get when you take a B complex supplement.

Magnesium

Magnesium is actually one of the essential electrolytes your body needs, in addition to sodium and potassium.

It helps with your pituitary health, and is needed if your FSH, THS, or LH hormones are out of balance. If you have thyroid issues, problems with ovulation, or have extreme fatigue, but then trouble sleeping at night, lack of magnesium could be the culprit.
