How Does This High Protein Smoothie Bowl Taste?

This smoothie is a raspberry and yogurt flavor bomb!

Raspberries give it a lot of freshness and yogurt makes it thick and creamy. The smoothie is sweet thanks to the addition of protein powder, which also increases the amount of protein.

I like to use raspberry flavored protein powder, but vanilla, banana or strawberry would also work well here.

What’s more, you can substitute raspberries for other fruits as well. The blueberry or strawberry version is equally delicious!

Can You Use Frozen Fruit For This Smoothie Bowl?

Obviously, it is best to use fresh fruit, but what if you’re craving something that’s not in season right now?

Go for frozen fruit! In this recipe I use fresh raspberries but frozen raspberries will be just as tasty.

Remember though that using frozen fruit will cool your smoothie down a lot, so if you don’t want it to be so cold – defrost the fruit first.

Also, if you use raspberries straight from the freezer, keep in mind that it will be harder to blitz them – if you are using Vitamix or Blendtec, using frozen fruit will not be a problem, but if you use smaller blenders it may be a little harder.

In that case, blitz the raspberries in batches or defrost them first.

Can You Make a Vegan High Protein Smoothie Bowl?

If you want, you absolutely can make this smoothie bowl in a vegan version – all you have to do is swap the Greek yogurt for soy or coconut yogurt.

Both will taste fabulous!

Then also pay attention to what protein powder you’re using and reach for the plant-based one – more and more vegan options are now available on the market.

Benefits of This High Protein Smoothie Bowl

Raspberries, though small, have plenty of nutritional value.

They are rich in potassium, which is essential for proper heart function, and they lower blood pressure.

The omega-3 fatty acids in raspberries can help prevent heart diseases, and antioxidants found in raspberries help protect cells from free radical damage.

Both Omega-3s and antioxidants are really important for fertility and berries are a low sugar fruit that can be enjoyed as much as possible.

Fresh raspberries are one of the best sources of antioxidants in your diet. Furthermore, eating protein-rich foods can help you feel full for longer, resulting in less snacking throughout the day.

Taking protein supplements can also lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

How To Make a High Protein Smoothie Bowl?

Preparing this High Protein Smoothie Bowl is easier than you think.

The only specialized equipment you will need is a good quality blender.

This recipe was made using a Blendtec Total Classic.

The reason why I used this blender is that it gives you precise control over your blending speed.

You can adjust how thick or soupy you want your smoothie bowl using the variable speed settings. For more information about this particular blender, check out this review on Blendtecs.

All you need to do is wash the raspberries, then blend everything together.

It’s that simple!

If you want your smoothie to be more thick and creamy, you can add more yogurt. The ready-made smoothie can be stored for up to three days in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator.
